From the Library: The Big Read 2009

THE BIG READ 2009

Let’s talk about a great book! That’s what the Big Read is all about: communities reading the same book and discussing it.

This is the fifth year for the Big Read here in the Miami Valley. Local libraries, bookstores, non-profit organizations, and the Dayton Daily News sponsor the seven-week reading event, which takes place Sunday, March 8 – Saturday, April 18.

After voting on a book in August, Miami Valley residents decided to read Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. The people of Sterling, New Hampshire, are forever changed after a shooting at the high school leaves ten people dead, and the judge presiding over the trial tries to remain unbiased, even though her daughter witnessed the events and was friends with the assailant.

Look for details on the author, book discussion dates, events and more on our website www.greenelibrary.info or www.bigread.org.
